Mask Developing History....
The history of facial masks can be traced back to ancient Egypt, with its evolution divided into three main stages:
Ancient Egypt Period (30 BC)
Ancient Egyptians first used natural ingredients like volcanic ash and sea mud as facial treatments for skin conditions. Cleopatra favored mud paste masks containing Dead Sea mud and mineral salts, known for their cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Tang Dynasty, China (c. 600 AD)
Chinese women began using herbal beauty masks, such as Empress Wu Zetian's ˇ°Immortal Jade Maiden Powderˇ± (containing almonds, talcum powder, etc.), the earliest documented herbal beauty formula. Tang Dynasty masks were primarily powder-based mixtures emphasizing nourishment. 12
Modern Industrial Development (1970s-1980s)
Face mask production processes gradually became more scientific. In 1973, the American Alza Corporation developed transdermal patch technology, laying the foundation for modern sheet masks. In 1993, Procter & Gamble's SK-II launched non-woven fabric masks, becoming the pioneer of sheet masks. After 2001, ingredients like bio-cellulose, silk materials, and hyaluronic acid were introduced, enabling specialized functions and professional care.
